Banks To Start Charging For Not Using Credit Card Enough!

With all the uproar over credit card fees, and now congress stepping in you would think that the fees would start to go away. Not the case in the UK!

Barclaycard has announced that it will be charging customers who do not use their credit cards enough.

The company has said that those who have not used the card in the past year, or made a set level of payments may face the charge.

It is thought that annual fees of up to $25 are to be imposed on customers from September.

A spokesperson said: “We will do everything we can to improve the deal we give people, encourage them to use our card, not someone else’s and avoid fees.

“As a last resort, we are considering a fee for a minority of customers that simply do not use their card. Details aren’t yet final but we expect the amount to be between $10 and $20 – less than $2 per month.”

Now correct me if I am wrong but don’t you think this would rub customers the wrong way. If I personally had one of their cards I would cancel it immediately. Who knows if this type of fee will enter the U.S.? One would think not but only time will tell. Let us know your thoughts!
